“We create the systems that display graphics,” says Albion Managing Director Chris Shoebottom. The retail display experts produce everything, from their SDS range (cable and rod) to AV support and queuing systems and everything in between, including their new frameless display technology, meaning Albion is guaranteed to be able to meet any client’s specific needs. “Our products can guide a customer from the entrance all the way to the checkout,” he adds. And with clients in a multitude of sectors from museums and heritage to banking, real estate, office, public sector and education, it is clear that Albion’s pioneering and creative approach to bespoke graphic display systems are extremely versatile and not limited to solely to retail.

Originally producing basic cable and rod systems (their SDS range which still account for 80% of their business), Albion now cater to all aspects of retail display systems, from a Perspex frame to hold an A4 sheet in a window, to internal signage, queuing barrier systems, display shelves, light boxes, digital screens, bespoke point of sale displays and promotional material distribution units. A new product they offer is large scale frameless rubber backed graphics, which offer clients a stunning backdrop or point of sale with no visible frame or clips.

As Albion manufacture their own components and fittings in the UK, items are always in stock which means a fast turnaround, as well as a guarantee that the quality of materials and finishes is higher than similar products imported from abroad. Albion can produce entire signage schemes from entrance to till. Furthermore, the UK manufacturing facility means that specific pieces can be made to order, sometimes overnight if necessary, which benefits their trade partners. Albion also work directly with end users. Having their own manufacturing facilities also means Albion is also able to monitor their environmental impact, and recycle all waste. They have ISO 9002 accreditation.

As well as their own UK manufacturing facilities, at Albion all design is done in house which means bespoke projects and fit outs can be seamlessly managed and instigated with no middle-men. Using Albion’s in house design team allows for complete consistency and a stronger corporate identity, as the HMRC learnt when they chose Albion to oversee the refit of their branches. Albion’s solution was transformational with a fast turnaround despite having to undertake the work whilst branches were still operational, a task that entailed dealing with both staff and customers.

Albion has also undertaken large scale projects for The British Museum, Department for Work and Pensions and Harrods. They provided hardware for Primark’s queuing systems and have undertaken unusual one-off projects including Heathrow Terminal 5. For Morrisons, Albion refreshed and refurbished 300 in store cafes as well as in store pharmacies and interior signage. As well as providing for all aspects of internal and retail signage, Albion also produce office furniture, and provide lecterns and training suites to the training market, including the Ministry of Defence. They have designed and installed marketing suites for housing developers including Barratts, Bovis and David Wilson Homes, and have worked with various architects and designers.
